Ernest Lee Goering

by Dan Goering

A short history of Ernest Lee Goering’s entry and exit family wise.

As the time drew near….Grace was attended to in the Catholic hospital in Enid, Oklahoma, while I was at my job in management of a branch operation of the Massey Harris Company.
As soon as the birth was relayed to me at work, I dashed to the hospital to visit our new son Apparently they had brought him out of the oxygen tent, because I thought he looked great.
His mother, had seen him at his worst and sensed that his life was in peril.
I returned to work and wrapped-up lose ends — stopping on the way to celebrate by consuming a malted milk! Then, I proceeded to go home and make supper for the boys – Conard & Danny.
In the meantime a storm had knocked out our phone, at a time the hospital tried to contact me about Ernest’s death.
Our minister was contacted and he came over bearing the sad news.
I believe I was in shock for several days. Someone — church friends, etc took it upon themselves to make most of the arrangements.
Grace was not well, and needed to remain in the hospital several days.
The burial was quickly accomplished like within 36 hrs. or so. Present was my dad, sisters Elva and Frieda and a group of close friends from church. The Rev. and Mrs. Ziesset guided us through it all.
Ernest’s grave is in a plot dedicated to infants.
